The Saint Louis Chess Club (STLCC), a 501(c)(3) educational organization, is widely recognized as the premier chess facility in the country and one of the best in the world. This 6,000-square-foot chess center features a tournament playing hall, classroom space, a library and casual play area. Founded in 2007 and opened its doors in July of 2008, the STLCC is a nonprofit organization that is committed to promoting the game of chess locally, nationally, and internationally with a specific focus on bringing the benefits of chess to Saint Louis area school children. We are open seven days a week and offer kids classes, adult beginner classes, and intermediate classes free for members on a weekly basis.
Our mission to bring chess to students in school has continuously expanded over the last 15 years. We’ve implemented chess programs in hundreds of different classrooms and community centers across the Greater Saint Louis area, affecting thousands of students each year. In addition to the club’s affordable student rates, it offers summer camps, field trips, private lessons and free classes to members in an effort to make the game accessible to all students.
The STLCC is officially expanding its world-class facility into a 30,000-square foot space and we will be welcoming guests to the new space in late summer 2025. This expansion will allow the STLCC to amplify its community efforts and further their commitment to the chess industry. The expansion and upgraded facility will feature new ground level classrooms supporting players of all ages, as well as expanded tournament and community gathering spaces with state-of-the-art technology. Accessibility upgrades, including a new 3 story elevator, will provide access for all participants and allow for even greater community engagement.
