The mission of the Central West End Association is to maintain and enhance the Central West End as a desirable urban residential, business and institutional neighborhood.

Central West End Neighborhood Security Initiative (NSI)

The Neighborhood Security Initiative was created in 2007 to serve the community with a comprehensive plan for security in the Central West End. This program works closely with Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department, supplemental security companies, the Central West End residents and businesses to unify prevention efforts and respond more efficiently to crime as a community.

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis

The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis, also known as the Saint Louis Cathedral, is a cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church located in the Central West End. Completed in 1914, the cathedral is named for Saint Louis and was designated a basilica by Pope John Paul II in 1997. The church is known for its large mosaic installation (which is one of the largest in the Western Hemisphere, burial crypts, and the addition of an outdoor sculpture to promote racial harmony.

Park Central Development is a community development corporation serving the neighborhoods of the 17th Ward of the City of St. Louis. Their target area includes all of the 17th Ward, including parts of the Central West End, Forest Park Southeast, Botanical Heights, Midtown, Cheltenham, and Kings Oak.

Missouri History Museum

The mission of Park Central Development is to promote quality residential and commercial development in the neighborhoods of the 17th Ward, implement infrastructure and beautification projects, plan for future development, improve security, market the area to new residents and visitors, and find funding sources for neighborhood improvement projects. Park Central Development is governed by a Board of Directors made up of residents and institutions from around the ward. Neighborhood committees help guide plans for development, infrastructure, security, marketing and social services

The Cardinals are St. Louis’ professional baseball franchise and play in the National League of Major League Baseball. The new Busch Stadium in downtown St. Louis has been their home park since 2006.

St. Louis Blues

National Hockey League Team

The Blues are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League. The team, named after the famous W. C. Handy song "Saint Louis Blues," currently plays in the Scottrade Center.

World’s Fair Pavilion

World’s Fair Pavilion

The World's Fair Pavilion provides a picturesque setting for company picnics, private receptions, benefits, special events or parties. The covered floor area of the open air pavilion can seat approximately 500 people. This magnificent open air shelter has been one of the park’s most popular and impressive attractions since it was built in 1909 with proceeds from the 1904 World’s Fair.

The Science Center and Planetarium

The Science Center and Planetarium

The Saint Louis Science Center, founded as a planetarium in 1963, is a collection of buildings including a science museum and planetarium, on the southeastern corner of Forest Park. With over 750 exhibits, it is among the largest of its type in the country, and according to the Association of Science and Technology Centers, is one of the top 5 science centers in the United States.

The Jewel Box

The Jewel Box, also known as the St. Louis Floral Conservatory, is a greenhouse located in Forest Park. It now serves as a public horticultural facility and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

St. Louis Zoo

St. Louis Zoo

The Saint Louis Zoological Park, commonly known as the St. Louis Zoo, is located in Forest Park. It is recognized as a leading zoo in animal management, research, conservation, and education. Admission is free based on a public subsidy from a cultural tax district, the Metropolitan Zoological Park and Museum District and fees are charged for some special attractions.

The Muny

The Muny

The Muny, short for The Municipal Theatre Association of St. Louis, is an outdoor musical amphitheatre, located in Forest Park. The theater seats 11,000 people with approximately 1,500 free seats in the last nine rows that are available on a first come, first served basis. The Muny seasons run every year from mid-June to mid-August and it is run by a not-for-profit organization.

St. Louis Art Museum

St. Louis Art Museum

The Saint Louis Art Museum is one of the principal U.S. art museums, with paintings, sculptures, cultural objects and ancient masterpieces from all corners of the world. Its 3-story building stands in Forest Park, where it is visited by up to a half million people every year. Admission is free through a subsidy from the cultural tax district for St. Louis City and County.
