Patricia Lockwood: Priestdaddy

May 8, 2017   •   7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Acclaimed poet and author Patricia Lockwood will sign and discuss her debut memoir, “Priestdaddy.”

Fr. Greg Lockwood is unlike any Catholic priest you have ever met—a man who lounges in boxer shorts, loves action movies, and whose constant jamming on the guitar reverberates “like a whole band dying in a plane crash in 1972.” His daughter is an irreverent poet who long ago left the Church’s country. When an unexpected crisis leads her and her husband to move back into her parents’ rectory, their two worlds collide. In her beautifully written prose debut, Lockwood effortlessly pivots from the raunchy to the sublime, from the comic to the deeply serious, describing how she found her voice as a writer, reflecting on the Church’s recent history of scandal and abuse, and exploring issues of belief, belonging, and personhood.

This event is free and open to the public, but proof of purchase of “Priestdaddy” from Left Bank Books will be required to enter the signing line.
