LBB Presents: Tony Pecinovsky

February 3, 2020   •   7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
  •   Cost: Free

Left Bank Books presents, local journalist, activist, and politician, and President of the Saint Louis Workers’ Education Society, Tony Pecinovsky, who will sign and discuss his book Let Them Tremble.

Let Them Tremble: Biographical Interventions Marking 100 Years of the Communist Party, USA is a collection of six biographies exploring unique and often neglected aspects of the Communist Party, USA. Each biographical intervention explores a specific CPUSA leader’s life, work and times and places them within political and historical context. The subjects are CPUSA leaders Arnold Johnson, Charlene Mitchell, Gus Hall, Henry Winston, Judith LeBlanc and W. Alphaeus Hunton.

The interventions collectively span the bulk of the party’s history, not just the so-called Hey Day, Popular Front, McCarthy or Old Left periods. Special emphasis is placed on CPUSA activity and analysis post-1956. Let Them Tremble adds to our understanding of the 20th Century domestic Communist movement and fills the gap in the historiography of U.S. radicalism through biographical narratives.

This event is free and open to the public, but proof of purchase of Let Them Tremble from Left Bank Books will be required to enter the signing line.
