Andrea Scarpino and Josh MacIvor-Andersen

October 26, 2016   •   7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Poet Andrea Scarpino will read from her book-length poem, “What the Willow Said as It Fell,” and author Josh MacIvor-Andersen will discuss his memoir, “On Heights & Hunger.”

This event is free and open to the public, but purchase of either “What the Willow Said as It Fell” or “On Heights & Hunger” from Left Bank Books will be required to enter the signing line.

In her book-length poem “What the Willow Said as It Fell,” current Michigan UP Poet Laureate Andrea Scarpino bears witness to the body as a site of loss, to chronic pain as an all-encompassing experience, and to the mythological and medical ways we understand the body as it is continually created and lost.

“On Heights & Hunger” is a memoir of two professional and competitive tree-climbing brothers, both hungry for transcendence and adventure, coming to terms with their relationship to the divine, the family that first provided a framework for faith, and their own obsessions, victories, and failures.
