Time’s Getting Harder: Stories of the Great Migration

February 21, 2019   •   7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
  •   Cost: Free

Join St. Louis Public Library Schlafly Branch for a celebration of Black History Month. They will be hosting a program on the Great Migration. The local theater group, Call 2 Conscience, will chronicle individual stories of hardship & triumph of African-Americans.

Although emancipated, the hopes of freedom were dashed during the Reconstruction Era, crushed further by Jim Crow. African-Americans’ burning desire to control their own destinies led to the difficult decision to pull up long-planted roots and journey into the unknown.

The stories will be retold through narratives, music, and slides that describe the experiences of people who participated in and witnessed the Great Migration firsthand.
