Jordan Whitmore at Evangeline’s
Texas singer/songwriter Jordan Whitmore promotes her upcoming EP, Good Things, on a solo tour this summer.
Now five records into her career, Whitmore has maintained her artistic independence while racking up a list of accolades. Her sharply-written songs have been finalists at the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and award-winners at the National Unplugged Songwriting Contest. Working alongside longtime producer Brian Douglas Phillips, she brings that sound full circle with the Good Things EP, touching upon the melody-heavy chops that helped launch her career while also pushing into unexplored territory.
From the Sheryl Crow-worthy kickoff track, “Something Different,” to the blues-rock title track, Good Things is a diverse record filled with acoustic guitar, organ, Wurlitzer, unexpected percussion elements, baritone guitar, and even pocket piano. The result is the broadest, boldest track list of her career, influenced by artists like Aimee Mann, Shawn Colvin, and Alabama Shakes.
