5 Things To Do In The CWE This Weekend: Sept. 19-22

From the third annual BookFest St. Louis, to your first taste of fall at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams — here are five things to do this weekend in the CWE!

Listen to the Sounds of Summer | Various Intersections throughout the CWE

Friday, September 20
6-9 p.m.
Free & Open to the Public

Summer is officially coming to a close — and that means you only have a few Fridays left to enjoy the “CWE Sounds of Summer Music Series.” This Friday evening, you can listen to local musicians Jason David Cooper, Michelle DeFabio, Mario Y Julio, and Tommy Halloran as you sip, shop, and stroll throughout the neighborhood. They will be performing from 6-9 p.m. at four different intersections in the CWE (McPherson & Euclid, Maryland & Euclid, West Pine & Euclid, Laclede & Euclid). Our Sounds of Summer Music Series is sponsored by Commerce Bank.

Kick-off BookFest St. Louis with WHITMANIA | The Mahler Ballroom

Friday, September 21
7-9 p.m.
Free & Open to the Public

BookFest St. Louis festivities kick-off Friday night at The Mahler Ballroom. The St. Louis Poetry Center and Maryville University bring the centerpiece of their “Whitmania” exhibition to the BookFest St. Louis stage! Local poets and authors present a marathon reading of “Song of Myself” to celebrate Walt Whitman’s bicentennial, as well as his surprising ties to St. Louis. Afterward, you’ll have a chance to mingle with many of the BookFest authors at a special Meet & Greet event.

Celebrate Literature & the Literary Arts at BookFest St. Louis | Central West End

Saturday, September 22
10:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Free & Open to the Public

Join us Saturday for BookFest St. Louis in the Central West End — a “can’t-miss” celebration of the literary arts! Now in its third year, BookFest St. Louis will host a diverse mix of locally and internationally renowned writers, including two-time National Book Award nominee Elizabeth McCracken, internationally known (and St. Louis’ own!) illustrator Mary Engelbreit, St. Louis-based children’s book author Daniel Wiseman, acclaimed Bollywood-style romance writer Sonali Dev, and New York Times bestselling author Joshilyn Jackson, among many others!

All are welcome at this family-friendly event — enjoy panels, purchase books from participating authors and booksellers, listen to live music, and visit booths hosted by St. Louis artisans and literary-focused institutions. For more information about the festival, click here.
