5 Things To Do In The CWE This Weekend: Jan. 30-Feb. 2

From “Ice Cream for Breakfast Day”, to the Patty Long Catering Launch Party at the Mahler Ballroom — here are five things to do this weekend in the Central West End!

Welcome Patty Long Catering to the Neighborhood | The Mahler Ballroom

Thursday, January 30
5:30-8:30 p.m.

You’re invited to the Patty Long Catering Launch Party at the Mahler Ballroom! Many of you have heard that Patty Long Catering is under new ownership, and they would like to take the time for you to get to know the team and their new location in the Central West End.

Come for lots of drinks, some delicious food, a lot of fun, laughter, and a tour of their venue for everything from weddings to galas. See some cool decorating ideas for the space and what Patty Long Catering has in store for the future! If you’re new to who PLC is, they can’t wait to meet you and share their old and new story.

Grab the El Chaparrito Taco Before It’s Gone | Mission Taco Joint

Friday, January 31

Friday, January 31 is your last opportunity to savor the El Chaparrito taco at Mission Taco Joint. Featuring short ribs from E3 Meat Company in Kansas — a portion of the proceeds from every taco sold will be donated to the E3 Ranch Foundation, a non-profit that serves veterans, active military, and those who are affected by human trafficking.

On the taco, sliced green olives and white wine vinegar are added to the meat to pack a punch of flavor. It’s all topped with queso fresco, cilantro and lime, on a house made flour tortilla. Grab yours before it’s gone!

Attend a Massive Meat Sale | Straub’s

All Weekend Long

Don’t miss out — Straub’s semi-annual Massive Meat Sale is back this weekend! Pick up perfect cuts of USDA prime meat, at prices you won’t find anywhere else. It starts today and runs through Sunday February 2, so be sure to stop in and score some great deals!

Enjoy Ice Cream for Breakfast | Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams

Saturday, February 1
8 a.m. – noon

Round up the kiddos, your best pals, grandparents, and cousins and join Jeni’s this Saturday for their fourth annual Ice Cream for Breakfast Day! They’ll be celebrating from 8 a.m. to noon, scooping their new Skillet Cinnamon Roll ice cream for the first time ever — sweet cream cheese ice cream with dark caramel sauce, pastry, and so much cinnamon you’ll go weak in the knees. Plus, they’ll have a local roaster on hand serving Coffee Floats — hot coffee with a scoop of ice cream in a souvenir Jeni’s mug (while they last!).

What’s more, 100% of profits from their shop sales during the event will benefit DoSomething.org, a digital platform that powers offline action for young people interested in creating social change. A good reason to get out of bed and enjoy some ice cream if we ever heard one!

Challenge the Kids to a Game of Skeeball | Up-Down STL

Sunday, February 2
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Free & Open to the Public

Grab the kids and head to Up-Down STL for Family Hours this Sunday! They are opening their doors one hour early to give families a fun place to hang out for an afternoon. They’ll be selling pizza by the slice for those who are hungry, as well as soda and other kid-friendly drinks to those under 21, and a full bar to those over 21. As always, games are 25 cents or one token per play. This event is free to attend, and is open to all ages. All minors MUST be accompanied by someone who is 21 or older.
