It’s another great weekend to spend in the Central West End! You can view new art, try limited-time food and drinks, celebrate the holidays at our Window Walk event and so much more. There is a lot happening throughout the neighborhood that you won’t want to miss. Here are five things to do this weekend in the CWE.

Attend Gallery Opening Receptions
Duane Reed Gallery and Square One Gallery will have new exhibitions opening. At Duane Reed Gallery, attend the opening reception of artist Jane Barrow’s solo exhibition from 5-8 p.m on Friday. Barrow’s paintings portray movement through space, constructing fields that can only be viewed through one frozen moment. Her current work focuses on arrangements of mid-flight leaves, swirling and curling into complex patterns at the expense of unseen forces yet presented through a medium of complete stillness.
Square One Gallery will have the opening reception of “Eagle King”, a solo exhibition by contemporary artist and painter Adam Handler, on Friday from 6-9 p.m. Handler creates dynamic works that express naive chaos through themes of loneliness, imagination, solitude and connection. His recognizable characters such as bats, ghosts, and wide-eyed girls embody innocence and adolescent energy that connect viewers to a feeling of warm nostalgia, or even a sense-memory from days long ago. If you’re an art lover, you’ll definitely want to check out both of these exhibitions.

Enjoy a Movie Night| CWE Orangetheory Fitness
Who doesn’t love a movie night? Orangetheory Fitness is having a holiday-themed movie night this Friday at 7:15 p.m. The movie with the most votes from the in-studio poll will be screened. You can also enjoy hot coco, hot cider and snacks. The only thing you need to bring is a blanket. This would be a great opportunity to try a class and stick around for the movie. Already a member? After a great workout, this is the perfect way to unwind.

CWE Window Walk
Join us for the second day of Window Walk this Saturday from 1-5 p.m.! You’ll enjoy free holiday festivities, including ice carvings, trolley rides, carolers, live music, street performers, s’mores, kettle corn and more. Inside participating retailers and restaurants, enjoy a variety of fun activities and promotions. This year the event will also have a holiday market featuring small businesses from around St. Louis. Additionally, the CID has partnered with St. Louis-area designers and artists who have decorated must-see storefronts spreading holiday cheer throughout the neighborhood. View the full schedule for Saturday here. Can’t make it this weekend? The last day of Window Walk takes place Dec. 21.
