Learn About “Chess Prodigies” | The World Chess Hall of Fame

Opening Reception
Thursday, February 11

5-8 p.m.

You’re invited to the World Chess Hall of Fame’s opening reception of their newest exhibition, “Masterminds: Chess Prodigies“. “Masterminds” is an exhibition that tells the stories of notable chess prodigies including Bobby Fischer, World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen, and the Polgar sisters. Through photographs, videos, and mementos of important chess matches and tournaments from the collection of the World Chess Hall of Fame, visitors will learn more about these talented young players as well as their later accomplishments. The exhibition will also highlight the achievements of players who took up the game later in life and still made a mark on the world of chess.

The reception is free and open to the public with complimentary valet available. In compliance with their safety guidelines, guests will be required to wear masks and sign up for a timed, 30-minute tour of all three floors. Click here to sign up now.

Examine New Paintings | Philip Slein Gallery

Exhibition Opens Saturday, February 13

This Saturday, examine paintings by three different artists at Philip Slein Gallery. Their newest exhibition, “Swain, Walsh, Spehn”, will be on display from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. These three artists —Robert Swain, Dan Walsh, and Erik Spehn — each utilize a graphic structure of his own composition, each seemingly rigid yet each eloquently revealing the power of color and emotion that belies the rigidity of their construction.
