St. Louis book store takes down all JK Rowling books after comments about people who are transgender

“We no longer feel comfortable giving her shelf space while she uses her extensive platform to deride the humanity of trans women.”

A St. Louis book store is taking a stand against world-famous author J.K. Rowling after she made comments about transgender people on social media. Left Bank Books in Central West End will no longer display her books – most-notably the Harry Potter series. 

The decision was announced on Sunday and the store said, “Rowling’s public comments about transgender people particularly transgender women, is abbhorent (sic), hurtful and willfully ignorant. Not only that, but she has a worldwide platform for that bigotry which makes her even more dangerous.”
