5 Things To Do This Weekend: Jan. 12-14

The weekend is almost here and plenty is happening in the CWE! There are sales, new menu items, an author discussion, a movie night and much more. You’ll find a store, restaurant or activity that caters to everyone’s tastes. Grab your friends or family and head to the neighborhood. Here are five things we suggest you do this weekend.

Attend a Book Discussion| Left Bank Books

On Friday at 6 p.m., join Left Bank Books for a discussion of the graphic novel rom-com “Lunar New Year Love Story” with author and illustrator Gene Leun Yang and Leuyen Pham. This exciting opportunity to hear from the creatives will take place at Schlafly Public Library. After the presentation, Yang and Pham will sign and personalize your book copy. If you’ve never been to a Left Bank Books presentation, the new year is a great time to check one out!

Shop Anniversary Deals| The Silver Lady

Saturday is the last day to get 20% off rocks, minerals and fossils at The Silver Lady. This deal is in honor of their 38 years of business! Stop by to shop their diverse collection. Whether you’re looking to get into rocks and fossils more, or want to pick out the perfect stone for someone, The Silver Lady will have what you need. While there, be sure to also check out their jewelry. This is a sale that you won’t want to miss!

Have a Movie Night| VINO STL

Looking for something to do on a date or with friends? You’ll want to join VINO this Sunday for drinks and a movie! Happy hour starts at 5 p.m. and this Sunday’s movie, “The Hangover” starts at 7 p.m. Enjoy a wide selection of wine, beer and cocktails, free popcorn and hotdogs available for purchase. Can’t make it this weekend? VINO will have a movie showing each Sunday this month. This is a fun, chill way to wrap up your weekend.

Celebrate “Veganuary”| Clementine’s Creamery

Clementine’s has renamed this month “Veganuary” and is introducing five new flavors. The flavors are “Vegan Matcha Golden Mylk”, “Vegan Peanut Butter Curry”, “Vegan Raspberry Push Pop”, “Vegan Strawberry Cheezecake” and “Vegan Toasted Marshmallow”; you will find something sweet and spicy, perfect for all different desires. Not sure which kind to try? Plan multiple trips to the parlor with family and friends so that you can taste them all!

Try a New Meal| Cocina Latina

Since it’s a new year, maybe you’re looking to try new food. If you haven’t been to Cocina Latina, you’re missing out. With the cold weather this weekend, they can provide the warm and flavorful food that you’re craving. For a starter, enjoy their “Empanadas Peruana” which is a crispy pastry dough filled with beef, egg and Peruvian olives. For the main meal, try their “Arroz Chaufa”, a Peruvian-style fried rice and one of their fajitas, which includes a vegetarian option. Once you enjoy a meal at Cocina Latina, you’ll want to go back again and again.

Reminder as you’re traveling around the CWE this weekend, that transportation is now easier thanks to the Euclid Shuffle! If it’s too cold for you to walk, or you parked far away, you don’t need to let that stop you from exploring the neighborhood. You can take a free ride along Euclid Ave. from Forest Park Ave. to Washington Ave. You can call or text the shuttle for a ride. Hop aboard!
