LBB Foundation presents Sara Fitzgerald in conversation with Frances Dickey

  • September 19, 2024 • 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Join the Left Bank Books Foundaiton as they welcome journalist and scholar Sara Fitzgerald to Left Bank Books in conversation with Frances Dickey. “The Silenced Muse” is the first full-length biography of Emily Hale, the longtime secret love of celebrated poet T. S. Eliot. This compelling story of the amateur actress and university professor finally explores Hale’s side of the relationship, drawing on the 1,131 letters Eliot sent Hale that were only recently made available to the public. The T.S. Eliot House became a St. Louis City Landmark in 1976 in the Central West End mere blocks away from Left Bank Books. The 45th Annual Meeting of the International T. S. Eliot Society will be held in St. Louis, Missouri, from 20-22 September 2024.

“Emily Hale in her own right at last, emerging from behind the mirrors of Eliot-focused scholarship and the poet’s own letters, in this thoroughly researched biography.”— Paul Keers, Chair of the T.S. Eliot Society (UK)

Fitzgerald will be in conversation with University of Missouri English Professor Frances Dickey, former president of the International T. S. Eliot Society.

Fitzgerald will personalize and sign copies after the presentation! Personalized and signed copies can be mailed anywhere in the country. Please order personalized copies before noon on September 19.
